For many diabetics, lancing is an essential part of successful diabetes management.
Lancets are small, sharp instruments used to prick the skin.

This skin piercing allows you to draw a small drop of blood to the surface and test blood glucose levels with a blood glucose monitor and test strips.

Although some diabetics use a lancet, the majority prefer to use a special lancing device. Lancing devices are made to tightly grip the lancet and are operated by simply pressing a button. Different settings may be required depending on the patient's skin thickness.
